About Carol Kahn Designs

My love for jewelry was influenced by my grandmother, Carolina Campanella, a little Italian woman who was adorned with jewels. 

Matching jewelry with her ensemble was her signature statement. Color-coordinated bracelets, earrings, rings, pins and necklaces, were placed in boxes, hand-labeled in Italian, and secured with rubber bands. Each piece of jewelry was carefully stored in a tall, six-drawer dresser filled with her treasured collection.

Occasionally, my grandmother would open the boxes that glistened with sparkling jewels, rhinestones, pearls, and Bakelite, beckoning me to try them on. Draped in faux couture, I played make-believe as my grandmother watched intently. With a twinkle in her eye, she gave her a nod of approval, as I pretended to have a Cinderella moment.

 

My grandmother's treasure trove inspired me to collect my own jewelry. My love for Turquoise began as a teenager and still prevails. I favor Native American jewelry and design, and as fate would have it, the stitch I use for my bracelets is found in historic and contemporary Native American beadwork. I enjoy working with semiprecious stones, Czech and seed beads utilizing the colors and textures of nature. The Southwest landscape is truly inspiring and is such a magical place. I am so fortunate to be able to call Sedona, Arizona home.

Carol Kahn Designs evolved out of the encouragement and support from my daughter Corinna, and my family and friends. By divine intervention, what was simply a pastime became a full-fledged business. As an innovative visionary and spiritual enthusiast, I love creating unique one-of-a-kind statement pieces that will make those who wear them feel special.

Each piece should come with a warning label — once you own one, you will easily become addicted and want more. You are allowed!

Each gemstone is hand-selected and all jewelry is created using semiprecious stones. Our lariats are versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways.

Our cuff bracelets are hand-sewn and can be custom-ordered. If you are looking for a particular stone, and don't see it in stock — just ask.  We will create one — just for you.
